FAQ
Answers to the most common questions about PixelLift.
Getting Started
Open Figma, go to the Main Menu, select Plugins, then Browse plugins in Community. Search for PixelLift and click Install. The plugin will be available instantly inside any Figma file.
No. PixelLift works without an account. Install the plugin and start exporting straight away.
Yes. PixelLift works on both the Figma browser version and the Figma desktop app.
Exporting
Open PixelLift inside your Figma file, select the layers you want to export, and click Scan Assets. PixelLift will fetch all images from your selection. Set your format and scale, then click Export. All images are downloaded as a single ZIP file.
No. PixelLift only reads the layers you select. It does not modify your Figma file in any way.
Exported files are downloaded as a ZIP to the folder you choose on your computer. PixelLift does not store your files anywhere.
Formats and Quality
Open PixelLift, scan your images, and set the format to WebP using the universal format dropdown or per image. Then click Export.
Open PixelLift, scan your images, and set the format to AVIF using the universal format dropdown or per image. Then click Export.
Both are modern web formats that produce smaller file sizes than PNG and JPG. AVIF compresses more aggressively and produces smaller files than WebP, but takes longer to encode. WebP has wider browser support. For most web projects, WebP is a safe default. Use AVIF when file size is the top priority.
Compression is applied when you export to WebP or AVIF. These formats produce significantly smaller files compared to PNG and JPG with no visible quality loss.
Renaming
Click on any image name in the list to rename it individually. To rename multiple images at once, click the Rename button to open the bulk rename modal. You can match and replace names, add numbering, and set a prefix or suffix.
AI renaming looks at the visual content of each image and generates a descriptive file name automatically. Trigger it with the AI rename button and it applies names across all images at once.
PixelLift uses OpenAI ChatGPT by default. You can bring your own API key and switch to a different model by clicking the Change button in the AI rename modal.
No. PixelLift comes with an OpenAI ChatGPT key active by default. You can start using AI renaming immediately with no setup. If you want to use your own key or a different model, click the Change button in the AI rename modal.
Troubleshooting
PixelLift only fetches layers that contain exportable image content. Empty frames, text layers, and non-image elements will not appear in the list. Make sure you have selected the correct layers before clicking Scan Assets.
If you are using the default PixelLift key, make sure you have an active internet connection. If you have added your own API key, check that it is entered correctly and has not expired. The active key is shown in the AI rename modal - if it shows a green dot, it is connected.
