PixelLift Features Guide
Learn how to use PixelLift's core capabilities to optimize, rename, and export Figma images efficiently.
Features Overview
PixelLift provides powerful tools to streamline your Figma workflow. You can detect nested layers automatically, export in bulk with custom structures, choose modern formats like WebP and AVIF for optimal performance, and rename assets using AI for production-ready names.
Layer Detection
Automatically identifies exportable layers, even deeply nested ones in complex files.
Bulk Export
Handle 50+ layers at once with custom naming and organized folders.
Modern Formats
Export to WebP and AVIF directly, reducing file sizes by up to 80%.
AI Renaming
Use Gemini or GPT-4 to generate intelligent names based on visual content.
Layer Detection
PixelLift scans your Figma files to find exportable layers without manual selection. This works for frames, groups, and components buried in complex designs.
How to Use Layer Detection
Open Plugin
Select your layers or entire page in Figma, then run PixelLift from the plugins menu.
Enable Detection
Toggle layer-detection on in settings. PixelLift highlights detectable layers.
Review and Export
Preview detected layers and export. Nested items appear flattened.
Use layer detection for design systems with hundreds of icons—it saves hours of manual hunting.
Bulk Export Options
Export multiple assets simultaneously with control over folders and naming. Organize outputs like icons/hero.png or buttons/primary@2x.webp.
Select layers, choose formats, and export to a single folder.
Define paths using patterns like {category}/{layer_name}.{ext}.
Set scales (1x, 2x, 3x) and suffixes automatically.
Here are example naming patterns you can configure:
{layer_name}.png
assets/{page_name}/{layer_name}@2x.webp
Support for Modern Formats
Switch to WebP or AVIF for smaller files without quality loss. PixelLift optimizes automatically during export.
| Format | Compression | Browser Support | Use Case |
|---|---|---|---|
| PNG | None | Universal | Icons with transparency |
| WebP | 30-50% | 95%+ | Photos and graphics |
| AVIF | 50-80% | 80%+ (modern) | High-performance sites |
Adjust compression levels: lossless for crisp icons, lossy for photos. Test with your target devices.
AI-Powered Renaming
AI renaming looks at the visual content of each layer and generates a descriptive, production-ready file name. No more generic names like Frame 123.
How to use AI renaming
- Scan your layers using the Scan Assets button
- Click the AI rename button to open the rename modal
- Optionally add naming instructions to guide the output (e.g. "use kebab-case", "keep it short")
- Click Rename - names are applied across all images instantly
No setup needed. PixelLift comes with an OpenAI ChatGPT key active by default. If you want to use your own key or a different model, click Change in the modal.
Best Practices
Combine features for efficiency: detect layers, bulk export to WebP with AI names into structured folders. Always preview exports to verify quality.
Explore Each Feature
Bulk Export
Export 50+ layers in one action. Works on frames, groups, and nested components.
File Formats
Switch between PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF, SVG, and PDF per image or globally.
Scale
Control export resolution per image or across the entire batch.
Rename, Prefix and Suffix
Bulk rename with tokens, numbering, and find-and-replace.
AI Renaming
Let AI generate descriptive file names based on image content.
Quick Preview
Inspect any image before exporting and jump to its Figma layer.
