AI Renaming
Let AI look at your images and suggest names based on what is in them.
AI renaming looks at the visual content of each image and generates a descriptive file name automatically. Instead of exporting files named Frame 1234 or Rectangle 45, you get names that actually describe what is in the image.
How it works
No setup required. PixelLift comes with an OpenAI ChatGPT key active by default. Open the AI rename modal and the key is already connected and ready to use.
When you trigger AI renaming, PixelLift sends each image to the AI model. The model looks at the visual content and suggests a name. The name is applied immediately across all images.
If you are not happy with the results, you can re-run AI renaming as many times as you need. You can also edit individual names manually after AI renaming has run.
Use AI renaming
- Scan your images using the Scan Assets button
- Click the AI rename button to open the rename modal
- Optionally add Naming Instructions to guide the output (e.g. "use kebab-case", "describe the subject", "keep it short")
- Click Rename to apply names across all images
- Review the names in the list and edit any individually before exporting
AI renaming works best on images with clear visual content like illustrations, icons, photos, and UI components. Abstract or very simple images may get generic names.
Use your own API key
If you want to use your own OpenAI key or switch to a different model, click the Change button next to the active key in the AI rename modal. Enter your own API key and select the model you want to use. Your key overrides the default for all subsequent AI renames.
When using your own key, asset thumbnails are sent to OpenAI using that key. PixelLift does not store your key.
